Trip Schedule - London

Septemer 2026

Travel Day

Wednesday, September 16

Fly from the U.S. on a redeye to arrive in London on Thursday morning.  If you don't have the time, you can fly out on Thursday or Friday.

Free Day

Thursday, September 17

After you arrive in London, you will have the rest of the day to explore the City as you wish or possibly take a day trip to the countryside. From our hotel, you should be able to walk to Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Whitehall Palace, and Victoria Station, where you can grab an Underground train to any London attraction you desire. You may want to visit one of the top-notch free museums, Spencer House, or Highgate Cemetary. Check out the Trip Activities section of this website and our YouTube video for more ideas.

Hotel:  TBA

Free Day

Friday, September 18

This is your first full day in London and yours to do with as you may.  Maybe take in one of the many free museums, take a ride on the famous red double decker busses, cheer on a local club at a football match, or take a day trip to Oxford or the Cotswolds.  It's up to you! And there's always London's exquisite shopping areas.  We're sure you'll find something wonderful to do this day.

Soho & The Cursed Child Play

Saturday, September 19

Plan to spend today with the group.  We're heading to Soho to visit the MinaLima Gallary and to see parts 1 and 2 of The Cursed Child play.  During the break, we'll grab dinner in the nearby restaurants.  This is included in the price estimate, but you may opt out.

The Warner Bros. Studio Tour

Sunday, September 20

Today, we will head to London's No. 1 attraction and any Harry Potter fan's favorite place--Warner Bros. Studios, where all 8 movies were filmed. We'll take a double-decker bus for the 40-minute drive to the studio and spend 4 hours at the studio. In addition to filming sets and props, the studio also includes a cafeteria to grab a bite to eat or down a mug of Butterbeer.  It also boasts one of the largest Harry Potter gift stores we've seen. This day trip is included in the price estimate, but you may opt-out.

This is also your last full day in London. Have you enjoyed a tea room?  There's still time to join a Harry Potter walking tour or ghost tour tonight.

King's Cross Station & Train to York

Monday, September 21

Today, we're heading to King's Cross Station to browse The Platform 9¾ Shop and get our photos taken entering the magical barrier at Platform 9¾, before following in the footsteps of Harry, Ron, and Hermione by taking the train from King's Cross Station north.

We'll stay 2 nights in York, a walled city founded in AD 71 with connections to Harry Potter and Roman, Viking, and medieval history. While there are many things to see and do, a must-see is visiting The Shambles, a medieval street that will transport you to Diagon Alley, and strolling along the York City Walls, which offer a unique perspective on the city’s history and stunning views of York’s skyline.

Trip Schedule - York and Edinburgh

October 2025

Free Day

Tuesday, September 22

On our second day in the enchanting city of York, you can dive deeper into its rich history and explore more Harry Potter-themed locations. A great way to begin your day is with a visit to the York Minster, one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Northern Europe. Its stunning architecture and beautiful stained glass windows are truly a sight to behold.

Next, you may want to head to The Bar Convent Living Heritage Centre, England’s oldest living convent, where you can learn about its fascinating history and explore its beautiful gardens and chapel.

For lunch, enjoy a relaxing picnic in the picturesque Museum Gardens, home to the ruins of St. Mary's Abbey (pictured above), providing a serene backdrop to your meal.  And don't miss the Clifford's Tower, a historic castle keep with panoramic views of the city.

For a magical twist, visit the York Ghost Merchants to pick up a spooky souvenir, and explore the National Railway Museum, where you can marvel at the majestic trains, including some that might remind you of the Hogwarts Express.

If you've made reservations, you can end the day with a magical evening at The Potions Cauldron, a Harry Potter-inspired café where you can enjoy wizard-themed drinks and snacks.

Train Ride & Free Day in Edinburg

Wednesday, September 23

It's time for us to resume our train journey north into Scotland.  The city center of Edinburgh offers an enticing selection of attractions, like a medieval castle and stunning Gothic architecture around every corner. You'll find the popular attractions within a short walk of the hotel.

  • Take a Harry Potter Walking Tour

  • Get Spooked on the Late Night Haunted Underground Vault Tour

  • Explore Castles and Palaces

  • Shop in Old Town and on The Royal Mile

  • Venture to the Sea to See the Royal Yacht Britannia & Leith.

And, of course, we're in the home of J.K. Rowling and many Harry Potter shops, tours, and sights.

Alnwick Castle & The Scottish Borders

Friday, September 25

For our last full day in the UK, we will combine the magic of Harry Potter with the history of the Scottish borders on a day trip from Edinburgh. Ideal for fans of the world’s favorite wizard, this tour takes you to the coastal town of Bamburgh, home to the impressive 5th Century Bamburgh Castle (as seen on The Last Kingdom) and Alnwick Castle, a filming location featured in both Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. Tour these historic structures' opulent rooms before you admire the pretty town of Coldstream, straddling the border of England and Scotland. The cost of this tour is included in our estimate.

Return Travel or Highlands Add-on

Saturday, September 26

Today is the end of the original trip.  However, that is only if you need it to be the end.  You can fly from Edinburg to London to head home, hop a train to Paris or elsewhere in Europe, or continue your stay to experience the beauty and grandeur of the Scottish Highlands on your own.

Recovery Day

Sunday, September 27

If you opt to return home, you'll have time to rest up, do laundry, and bask in your wonderful memories before returning to work tomorrow.

About Us

Untitled design (37)_edited_edited_edited.jpg

Harry Potter Book Club was founded in 2020 by a group of readers in Phoenix, Arizona dedicated to sharing their love of the Harry Potter Books and making connections during the pandemic.

During the pandemic--homebound and dreaming of travel--we came up with the idea of a trip to Universal Studios Orlando and what we dubbed a "Dream Trip to the UK." We took our first trip to Universal Studios in late 2021 and have another trip planned for Orlando in 2026, including Epic Universe.  In the meantime, we have planned our Dream Trip to the UK for October 8-21, 2025, which is the current focus of this website.

While our book club meetings are detailed on our Facebook Group, we know a few of you (or your friends) want to join in our travels but are not on Facebook, so we've made this website to help keep everyone informed as the trip planning continues and to allow you to indicate your interests to help us in the planning process.

This trip is open to any Harry Potter Book Club member, their significant other, friends, and family.

Check out our video that shows what we have in mind for the trip, where we'd like to stay, and more.

Where to Next?

HPBC Goes to Universal Studios Orlando and Epic Universe!

Mark your calendars for November 2026 for the HPBC's return to Orlando--but this time, we're hitting both Universal Studios and Epic Universe, which also has an HP world.

We'll pick the date after we return from the UK in 2025. To best accommodate our members' schedules and avoid the busiest/hottest times of the year, this trip may be scheduled for a Sunday through Thursday in November 2026.

Any prices or events indicated in this event are merely estimates provided for your convenience and are subject to change and availability.  Also, we know some of you will be using points for airfare, so our estimated price will not include airfare.
